You know how Google works – changes are always happening.

If you run ads for your plumbing, HVAC, electrical, roofing, or other home service company, you may have heard that Google is changing how Local Services Ads (LSAs) are managed.

Google has already started rolling out the move, beginning with select home service and storefront businesses in the U.S.

The good news? This isn’t something you need to panic about. There are some real benefits to having LSAs move into Google Ads. And if you’d rather not figure it all out yourself, that’s where we come in!

What’s Actually Changing?

Google is moving LSA management into the main Google Ads platform. Instead of jumping between separate dashboards, you’ll eventually be able to manage your budgets, leads, and messages from Google Ads. Your business information will also sync from your Google Business Profile, and new campaigns will pull in those details automatically.

Google is also phasing out Manual Bidding and Target CPA as accounts transition to its Google Ads bidding system.

The important part: LSAs themselves aren’t disappearing.

You’ll still have the pay-per-lead model, local ad placements, and keywordless targeting that make LSAs valuable for your business.

The Benefits

This shift could make managing your paid search strategy much easier!

A few potential benefits include:

  • One place to manage campaigns: Okay, as numbers nerds, we love less jumping between platforms to see what’s happening to get actionable results.
  • Better visibility: Having LSA activity within Google Ads can make it easier to look at your overall advertising picture.
  • Simpler business information: Your Google Business Profile information will sync automatically.
  • More streamlined campaign management: Budgets, leads, and messages will live within the Google Ads platform.
  • More room to optimize: Bringing LSA management into Google Ads could give your marketing team (hello!) better tools for managing campaigns over time.

What Should You Do Right Now?

Honestly, not much. Google is handling the migration, and you should receive an email approximately 14 days before your account moves. *You may have already received this email or noticed the change.

Once your account transitions, though, it’s worth watching your cost per lead, lead quality, budget, and, most importantly, how many of those leads turn into actual jobs. That’s where the numbers really matter.
