You likely don’t have hours to sit behind a screen tweaking marketing. You’ve got jobs to run, calls to answer, and crews to manage. The good news? You don’t need a full overhaul to see better results. We're here to help with a handful of small, quick actions that can move the dial—fast.

Here are ten small fixes that can be knocked out in five minutes or less (we promise) that actually make a difference.

Fix #1. Upload New Job Photos to Your Google Business Profile

If your profile looks the same as it did six months ago, that’s a problem. Google prefers active listings, and customers want proof that you’re still out there doing solid work.

Add three recent photos from your latest jobs. Before-and-after shots work best because they tell a clear story without needing much explanation.

Keep it simple: clean angles, decent lighting, and real work. Avoid stock images.

Fix #2. Reply to Google Reviews

While you’re updating your Google profile, respond to at least two reviews. Thank them, mention the service you provided, and include the location if it fits naturally. This shows potential customers that you’re engaged and paying attention, and it signals activity to Google.

Fix #3. Google Your Business Name

Search your business name and look at what shows up. This is exactly what your customers see. If something looks neglected, people assume your service might be too. Check for outdated photos, wrong hours, old phone numbers, or anything that feels off. Fix what you can right away.

Fix #4. Text One Past Customer for a Review

Reviews are one of the fastest ways to build trust and improve your visibility online. But most happy customers won’t leave one unless you ask. And often, several times.

Right after the job, send a quick, casual text: “Hey! If you were happy with the work, would you mind leaving us a quick review?” That’s it. No long explanation. No pressure. Just a simple ask.

Take text to the next level - bonus points if you pick up the phone and call a big customer and ask if they are still happy with the work and if they are willing to share their experience online.

Fix #5. Post One Job Photo with a Simple Caption

Consistency matters more than perfection. This may sound crazy coming from an agency, but you don’t always need a polished marketing campaign; you just need to show up regularly. Post a recent job photo on your social media with a straightforward caption: “Wrapped up this [job type] in [city] today—turned out great.”

Done. That’s enough to keep your business visible and active.

Fix #6. Add or Update Your Service Area

If your website doesn’t clearly list where you work, you’re missing out on local search traffic.

Make sure your service areas are specific. Cities and towns work better than broad regions. Instead of saying “serving the Gulf Coast,” list actual locations your crew drives to. This helps search engines connect your business with nearby customers who are ready to hire.

Fix #7. Update Your Website Headline

First impressions matter. When someone lands on your site, they should immediately know what you do and where you do it. Swap out generic headlines like: “Welcome to Our Company,” for something direct like “Reliable AC Repair in Naples—Fast, Local, Done Right.”

Clear beats clever every time.

Fix #8. Record a 10-Second Jobsite Video

Video builds trust faster than almost anything else because it feels real. Pull out your phone on a job site and record a quick clip explaining what you’re working on. No script needed.

Something like: “Just replacing a worn-out unit here in San Jose. The customer was losing airflow, so we’re getting them back up and running.” Short, honest, and useful!

Fix #9. Check Your Call-to-Actions

If your website or social profiles don’t clearly tell people what to do next, they won’t take action.

Make sure your call-to-action is obvious and easy: Call, text, or request a quote. People hate to dig around or guess at what to do and wonder did it work. Make your copy clear so your potential customers know what to do instead of having ‘analysis paralysis.’

Fix #10. Clean Up Your Contact Info Everywhere

Inconsistent contact information creates confusion and hurts your credibility.

Take 5 minutes to double-check your phone number, email, and address across your website, Google profile, and social pages. Everything should match exactly. Even small differences can cause problems with search rankings and customer trust.

While you’re at it, triple-check your hours. If you say you’re open for emergencies, but your office hours say you closed at 7 PM, the lead is likely to call someone else to get the work done.

More Leads Without the Guesswork

You can see, none of these tasks require a big time commitment, but together they can create big momentum. They make your business look active, reliable, and easy to work with; all things customers care about when choosing who to hire.

If you’re ready to stop piecing this together on your own, our team at My Marketing Works can help you build a system that brings steady leads without adding more to your plate. Reach out today, and let’s turn these quick wins into long-term growth!
